ABOUT
BIO
Elsa Faudé is a French filmmaker and photographer-author whose work merges photography, video, installation, and writing, navigating the borderlands between documentary and poetic expression. She graduated in Fine Art Photography from the University of California, Los Angeles Extension, and the Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya. She also holds several Master’s degrees in Fine Arts, Photography, and Literature from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, the University of Barcelona, and the University Toulouse II – Jean Jaurès. Her practice weaves together notions of wandering and belonging, where the act of vagrancy becomes an inner exploration of territories. In 2018, she obtained the UCLA award art competition honour mention. Since 2024, she has received different prizes the Mark Grosset-SAIF award, the honorable mention of the Julia Margaret Cameron awards in fine arts category by Fotonostrum and the documentary award Le Bleu du ciel. Her photography has been featured in different international galleries and art centers and has been selected in different festivals among Les promenades photographiques, Luminic, la Nuit de la photo, le festival Impulse (to come). Also, her work has been shortlisted in Descubrimientos by PhotoEspaña, MPB-On stage photography, the Emerging Woman Artist Award – Artprize Fall 2024. Her photography is represented by the Van Gogh Art Gallery ( Madrid) at several artfairs like the Monaco International artfair, the Inc Art Fair (Bodensee – Austria) and the Red Hot Miami (Miami -USA). Since 2023, she has also been working as a still photographer and audiovisual technician in the independent film industry, and has been commissioned for slow fashion shows.
STATEMENT
Elsa Faudé’s photographic wandering is a journey through dreams, memory, and feminine narratives, engaging in a dialogue between intimacy and universality. Through mixed media, she transforms photography into a critical tool for questioning mechanisms of resistance and emancipation. Her cinematographic visions, poised between dream and nightmare, explore alternative processes and countercultural representations.
